RCJL Jewish Heritage Museum

In 1995, when the new Jewish home in Danville was still in the planning stage, Ruth Eis generously agreed to donate a sizeable collection of Judaica. To accommodate the collection, three main areas of display cases for permanent and rotating exhibitions were added to the architectural plans. Ruth published a catalog of the collection in The Ruth and Max Eis Collection of Judaica at the Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living in 2005.

The Museum and Exhibit mission is to enhance and beautify the environment at RCJL for residents, families, and visitors. The collection also serves as an educational center of Jewish art and culture for the greater East Bay, presenting exhibitions from the collection and from various artists throughout the year. In 2002, the Council of American Jewish Museums recognized the collection as an institutional member. With the acquisition of Judaic art from other donors, the museum has been renamed the Jewish Heritage Museum at the Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living.
